GSA Gala Awards Terms of Reference

This award will honour an Indigenous graduate student (i.e., First Nation, Metis, or Inuit) who has made significant impacts in his/her field of study and research positively contributing to the Indigenous community. The awarded graduate student will be a favourable member in the research community exemplifying scholarly achievements and positive collaborations amongst researchers and the Aboriginal community.

*Nominations accepted from any current graduate student enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan or any current faculty member of the Indigenous community.

Eligibility: Any Indigenous graduate student currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.

This award will honour a graduate student who has made significant impacts in the field of humanities, arts, social sciences, law or education who has produced outstanding research results throughout their course of study. The awarded graduate student will be a favourable member in the research community who exemplifies scholarly achievement and positive research collaboration.

Eligibility: Any graduate students currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.

This award will honour a graduate student who has made significant impacts in the field of science and has produced outstanding research results throughout their course of study. The awarded graduate student will be a favourable member in the research community who exemplifies scholarly achievement and positive research collaboration.

This award will honour a graduate student who has made significant academic achievements in his or her field of study and has made outstanding non-academic contributions to his or her department of studies.

Eligibility: Any graduate students currently enrolled in a non-thesis based graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan

This award will honour a graduate student who has made significant impacts in two or more separate but related fields of study and has produced outstanding research results throughout their course of study. The awarded graduate student will be a favourable member in the research community who exemplifies scholarly achievement, interdisciplinary research and positive research collaboration.

Eligibility: Any graduate students currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan

This award will honour a graduate student advisor who has shown excellent supervisory and mentoring skills as well as exceptional support for their advisees’ ideas, scholarly work, and financial needs. The honoured advisor will embody the capacity to stimulate graduate students to think critically and creatively while enhancing their graduate student learning experience.

*Nominations for this award will be accepted from any current graduate student enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.

Eligibility: Any current University of Saskatchewan faculty member that is currently advising a graduate student who is currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.

This award will honour a graduate student who has made significant impacts and positive contributions to the local community in Saskatchewan. This will be awarded to a student who has shown extensive initiative and significant achievements in serving the community in addition to excelling in his/her academic studies. This will be awarded to a student who has contributed a minimum of fifty (50) hours in voluntary hours.

*Nominations accepted from any current graduate student enrolled in a graduate program at the University or any current faculty member. We are encouraging letters of support for this category from community based-organization(s).

Eligibility: Any graduate students currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.

This award will honour a graduate student who has made significant influence in new and emerging areas of study where innovative work is being done. This will be awarded to a student who is studying one of the University of Saskatchewan’s signature areas. This will be awarded to a graduate student who exemplifies innovation research across all disciplines.

*Nominations for this award will be accepted from any current graduate student enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.

Eligibility: Any current University of Saskatchewan faculty member that is currently advising a graduate student who is currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.

This award honours a student who has shown strong leadership and exceptional initiatives. Going above and beyond his/her call of duty, and by carrying out the mission of the GSA. This will be awarded to a graduate student who has shown outstanding involvement and collaboration with graduate students in his/her unit of study, GSA council, and the GSA executive.

*Nominations accepted from any current graduate students. Nominations are encouraged from student council members in each academic unit, GSA council, and GSA executives.

Eligibility: Any graduate students currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.

This award honours a professor who showed excellent teaching practice in a graduate level course, going the extra miles for their students and plays a mentor to graduate students. This award is open to all graduate level professors across all disciplines. Nominations are encouraged from graduate students in each academic unit.

Eligibility: Any graduate students currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.
