What is the GSA Council?

GSA Council is the Association’s primary representative and decision-making body, bringing together elected Executives and graduate student representatives from Academic Councils.

Council discusses issues affecting graduate students, considers and votes on motions, reviews Association priorities, and provides direction on advocacy, governance, services, and other matters affecting the graduate student community.

Councillors

GSA Councillors represent graduate students from their respective Academic Councils and play an important role in GSA governance. Councillors attend Council meetings, vote on Association business, bring forward concerns from their academic communities, and help ensure graduate student perspectives are represented in GSA decision-making.

How to Become a GSA Councillor

GSA Councillors are selected through their respective Academic Councils. Graduate students interested in serving as a Councillor should connect with their Academic Council to learn about available positions, nomination procedures, and selection timelines.

Once selected by an Academic Council, Councillors are registered with the GSA and serve as the official representatives of their academic group at GSA Council meetings.
