Current Studies Seeking Participants
Hello Everyone,
My name is Sharmin Afroz, and I am a MSc student in Computer Science at the University of Saskatchewan. We are conducting a research study titled “When Can Developers Trust LLM Explanations of Code Clones?”, and we would greatly appreciate your participation.
Survey Link: Participate in the survey
Please complete the survey by October 30, 2026.
What will you do?
In this study, you will be asked to:
-
Review 3 pairs of Java code fragments along with several AI-generated explanations for each pair.
-
Evaluate how well the explanations describe the similarities and differences between the code fragments.
-
Judge the reliability, usefulness, and trustworthiness of the explanations.
-
Select the explanation you find most helpful and provide your trust and confidence ratings.
-
Identify code lines that support the explanation's main claim.
-
Complete a short workload questionnaire at the end of the study.
Details:
-
The study takes approximately 15–20 minutes.
Your participation will help us better understand when developers can trust LLM-generated explanations of code clones and when such explanations may require additional verification.
This study has been approved by the University of Saskatchewan Behavioural Research Ethics Board. Thank you very much for your time and contribution to our research.
Best regards,
Sharmin Afroz
