GSA Council Chair & Vice-Chair
The Graduate Students’ Association is accepting applications for two voluntary governance positions: Council Chair and Council Vice-Chair. These roles play an essential part in ensuring transparent, orderly, and effective Council operations.
Eligibility for both roles:
- Must be a Regular Member of the Association
- Cannot be a member of Council, Executive, or the Association’s Staff
Term: December 2025 to October 2026
Council Chair
(Paid Position)
Key Responsibilities
The Council Chair shall:
- Be familiar with all governing documents including the Saskatchewan Non-Profit Corporations Act, 1995, Robert’s Rules of Order, and all GSA Bylaws, Constitution, and Policies.
- Preside over all Council meetings and General Meetings.
- Conduct orientation for all Councillors, including their responsibilities and the use of Robert’s Rules of Order.
- Serve as the Chief Electoral Officer and perform all duties associated with that role.
- Provide structured orientation and training to the Vice-Chair, including ensuring the Vice-Chair has the opportunity to chair at least one meeting during the term.
Vice-Chair
(Volunteer Position)
Key Responsibilities
The Vice-Chair shall:
- Be familiar with all governing documents as listed above.
- Preside over Council and General Meetings and perform the duties of the Council Chair in the Chair’s absence.
- Be encouraged to attend at least one (1) Council Meeting and General Meeting even when the Chair is present, to ensure continuity and preparedness.
