Election Personal Statement

Jennifer Amarualik-Yaremko is Inuk and a thesis-based Master’s Student at the University of Saskatchewan. She is working on decolonial theory in political studies and was the Vice President of the University of Saskatchewan Games Club from 2020-2022. She is a casual exam invigilator for AES, and currently sits as a Bylaws and Governance Director with the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation. Jennifer has experience with Indigenous community outreach and working with at-risk youth with the Miywasin Friendship Center in her hometown of Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Jennifer brings a straightforward approach to understanding and being transparent with institutional governance. If elected, she will bring a friendly and practical side to the Graduate Students’ Association. She plans to work within the GSA’s mandate to improve communication and governance reporting, reduce red tape and barriers to services provided by the GSA, and push for a stronger and more inclusive graduate community. Graduate school is hard enough! Why put up with it being harder than it has to be?
