Please send your booking requests to gsa.commons@usask.ca. Once your booking has been scheduled, you will receive a confirmation email and your event will be posted on our website.

If you are a graduate student or are affiliated with an organization that represents graduate students and would like to use the Graduate Commons for a meeting, presentation or event, simply fill out the booking form with as much information as possible and contact the GSA office at:

Please note that we can only accept bookings during regular business hours and not on holidays. Please indicate whether you prefer your event to be a closed door/private event or an open door/public event. All events will be advertised on the GSA Events Calendar and posted on the News tab; simply send a small write up with the contact information and a link to your website or poster if available. Upon approval of your event you will be asked to sign the Commons Rental Contract, please review this contract for our policies by clicking here.

Advertising the GSA Commons

The space is called the GSA Commons or Graduate Students’ Association Commons and should be advertised as such. We are housed in the Emmanuel and St. Chad Building at 1337 College Dr. Saskatoon. We require the proper name and the GSA logo displayed on all advertisements, as the GSA is endorsing your event. For the GSA logo click here.


The Graduate Commons is a versatile space that can be organized to accommodate many different functions and events. The space is fitted with audio/visual equipment that meet all the needs of presentations and entertainment. The kitchen is equipped with a commercial refrigerator, coffee machine, sanitizer for dishes, coffee mugs and glasses that are available to use. We encourage you to stop by and see the space if you are interested in holding your event at the Commons. Two commercial BBQs are available to use as well, please make sure to request them on your booking form.

*Please note that all bookings require a $100 refundable damage deposit

Cost of Use

Space Rental:

  1. $75 per hour 

  2. Free for GSA ratified groups within regular office hours: 9:00am to 7:30pm.

  3. $50 for GSA ratified groups per hour after office hours, on weekends and holidays.

 BBQ Rental:

  1. $15 for GSA ratified groups (includes propane)

  2. $30 per hour for non-graduate student events (propane will be billed)

 Coffee and Tea:

  1. Free for students: 9:00am to 7:30pm on weekdays.

  2. $5 per carafe after office hours, on weekends and holidays and for non-graduate student events.

Please note:

  1. The GSA does not book furniture for events. The booking party should contact the Facility Management Division (FMD) for additional tables and chairs. Please make note when booking furniture with FMD that billing address is the booking party’s department or group and not the GSA.

  2. BBQ can be rented for use on GSA premises only.

The GSA is able to take payment by debit, cheque or cash. If you would like to pay by CFOAPAL, please indicate so on your booking form.
